Borrowing - Healthcare Library
As a current ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ HSS midwifery student, you may borrow up to eight items at any one time from the Healthcare Library. Book borrowing periods vary between one and four weeks, and can be renewed in person, phone, fax or email, providing nobody else is waiting for the item in question.
Fines are charged for overdue loans and lost items must be paid for, you will receive reminder letters. You should return all loans as soon as you can to allow other readers to use the books.
When the Healthcare Library is closed, books may be left in the secure book return bin in the lobby outside Library.
Please note that all books must be returned by the end of your placement.
Please do not pass on material you have borrowed to someone else. You are responsible for it until it is returned to the library.
Finding help
You will receive an induction from Healthcare Library staff and you will be able to ask them for assistance during staffed hours.
It is important to attend your timetabled university IT and library sessions, as they are designed to give you the skills to carry out research for your assignments. To complement these sessions, you can arrange subject advice on a one-to-one basis at Weston Library through your faculty library team.
Any enquiries concerning the resources on the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Library web pages should be addressed to the HSS faculty library team. Alternatively, you can use the Library Chat service or ring ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Library's Telephone Enquiry Service on 01202 965959.
Photocopying
A photocopier is available in a room outside the library. You may obtain a Winchester - Royal Hampshire County Hospital Library photocopy card from the library staff. A £1 refundable deposit is charged.
The price of photocopying is currently 5p per A4 sheet.
Remember to comply with the Copyright Law. You may copy no more than one article from an issue of a journal or one chapter from a book.
Student feedback
A suggestions/comments book is available on the Information Desk. The Library Manager and Student Liaison Librarian welcome the opportunity to discuss issues with students.
Other resources
There are a number of other resources that may be available to you as you are studying on your placement year, with information available through our Other resources for students on placement in the NHS page.
