Borrowing - Healthcare Library
As a current ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ HSS student, you may borrow up to eight books for four weeks from the Hospital's library. You can renew these books as long as they have not been reserved by someone else - this can be done twice. Renewals can be in person, by phone or by email. When the Hospital Library is closed, books may be left in the secure book return bin in the Library.
No fines are charged, but items not returned within three months from the start of reminders will be charged, with an additional administration fee.
Please do not pass on material you have borrowed to someone else. You are responsible for it until it is returned to the library.
Photocopying
Articles from journals or books held in this Library may be copied at a cost of 5p per A4 page within the terms of copyright regulations posted above the copier.
Library IT facilities
A computer suite is situated in the Education Centre, available 24/7. Contact your clinical link to obtain a personal Trust computer login, and the library for the code if you wish to use the computers after hours.
Finding help
You will also receive an induction from your Hospital librarian and can ask the Library staff for any assistance you may need.
It is important to attend your timetabled university IT and library sessions, as they are designed to give you the skills to carry out research for your assignments. To complement these sessions, you can arrange subject advice with your faculty library team on a one-to-one basis at Weston Library at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥'s Lansdowne Campus or at St Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth.
Any enquiries concerning the resources on the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Library web pages should be addressed to the HSS faculty library team. Alternatively, you can use the Library Chat service or ring ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Library's Telephone Enquiry Service on 01202 965959.
Student feedback
The Library staff welcome feedback from students, and forms are available in the Library, or via your clinical link.
Other resources
There are a number of other resources that may be available to you as you are studying on your placement year, with information available through our Other resources for students on placement in the NHS page.
