The Department of Rehabilitation & Sport Sciences supports the development of allied health professionals (Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists), Nutritionists, Sports Therapists and Sport and Exercise Scientists.
These occupations play a key role in today’s healthcare and sporting environments, helping to positively transform people’s lives. We take the opportunity to ensure students learn with and from other professions as part of their pre-qualifying learning experience in the university and in practice.
Through our research centres, we improve interdisciplinary practice within distinctive areas of our academic strength. These include pain management, physical activity and sport, healthy eating/nutrition, ageing and dementia, professional practice in pre-hospital, acute and rehabilitation settings. We have an active group of PGR students some of whom have followed the clinical doctoral route.Â
