Co-creation of knowledge
We are working with many tourism and hospitality organisations around the world to co-create knowledge and innovations that will move the industry forward. Recent developments in technology, talent and innovations raise a range of opportunities and challenges ahead. We are keen to work closely with partner organisations to create solutions that have a positive impact on society.
Industry Advisory Board
Our regional and international advisory board is formed by key partners. It aims to strengthen the interaction of all stakeholders towards co-creating knowledge. Being a member of the advisory board will enable your organisation to engage with us in a more regular way and contribute to curriculum development, research and professional practice.
Industry masterclasses, guest lectures and seminars
As part of an annual programme we offer a range of Industry Master Classes, Guest Lectures and Seminars throughout the year. Many of these events are free and open to everybody to attend and contribute. We are keen to develop the programme further and give more opportunities to engage as a speaker or a participant.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are a government-funded scheme to share university knowledge with UK businesses. These partnerships allow you to recruit a graduate associate and access specific skills to increase your business productivity and improve performance. KTPs can last between six months and three years and often result in long-term partnerships. If your business would benefit from specialist university knowledge, you may be eligible for a KTP grant. You may also be eligible for a grant if you can identify a project that is critical to your future success. A KTP provides up to 67% government funding to support the transfer of university expertise into small to medium-sized business, and up to 50% funding for large organisations. Learn more about the KTPs we've worked on and how your business can get involved.Ìý
Collaboration on European-funded projects
We have been working in close partnership with several European organisations as part of European-funded research. This gives us the opportunity to develop and test innovations and develop networks of excellence as part of European projects. Working with us will get you access to cutting-edge research ideas with innovative partners, as well as funding and support to develop your organisation.
Funded or match-funded PhDs or research projects
Engage in match-funded PhD studentships and work with our researchers on challenging research projects that are of relevance and benefit to you. By working alongside and supporting a PhD student, you will have access to a wealth of resources at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ and can contribute to a valuable knowledge exchange. Your business will need to provide funding for the duration of the PhD (typically three years) while ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ will subsidise the remaining cost of the research. We ask for £7,000 per annum as a stipend (maintenance grant) as well as £1,000 to £1,500 per annum to cover the cost of consumables from any organisation that wishes to match-fund a PhD studentship. The subsidy from ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ is worth up to £20,000, comprised of a fee waiver and the other half of the stipend. Find out more about match funding a PhD at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥.
Conferences, seminars, workshops and other events
We run several external-facing conferences, seminars, workshops and other events that enable us to demonstrate our expertise and stimulate engagement with best professional practice. Many of these events are happening at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥, but also in London and overseas. We also run a series of events in trade shows such as the World Travel Market in London and the Hotel and Catering Show at the Bournemouth BIC.
Alumni-specific events and services
A range of alumni events harness ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ talent that is now in industry. We look forward to engaging more regularly with our alumni and facilitate networking and knowledge co-creation with our past students. This will drive the research agenda, engagement with existing students and innovations in general. As one of ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥'s alumni, you have access to a range of benefits and services, including free email service, regular newsletters and an annual magazine, careers and work advice, access to jobs and placements on MyCareerHub, access to the library and students' union volunteering activities, as well as other campus facilities.
