The ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ baseball team is in Japan for a week of friendly competition with the Fukuoka Institute of Technology (FIT). Thirty players, three coaches and nine parents departed on August 22.
From the welcome event - which ended in a dance-off between players - to the first game, the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ campus community can share the team's experience by reading a daily blog posted by Pioneer senior utility player and view photos provided by FIT.
"This team is a special, tight-knit group of players, so it's great that they'll be able to take this trip to Japan together," said Pioneer head coach Bob Ralston. "They'll get to experience a different culture, different language, and different style of baseball. I think going abroad will be a great experience for these young men and their growth as student-athletes." Players held fundraisers in order to relieve some of their travel costs.
