Postgraduate and undergraduate students from ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥â€™s Accounting and Finance courses recently took part in the ICAEW’s (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) intellectual game. Proudly sponsored by PwC, the ICAEW game was created by academic staff from different universities across the south coast, including ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Business School (led by Dr Alan Kirkpatrick), the University of Southampton, and the University of Portsmouth. Â
The judges for the event ranged from a PwC Senior Partner and the Director of Financial Services from PwC Channel Islands.
This experience gave students the chance to dive into a real-world business case study, thanks to the support of ICAEW and PwC. It involved tasks like presenting, as they were required to deliver their solutions to the panel of top-notch professionals from PwC.
The final saw the teams face a thrilling case study challenge. Teams from all three universities battled it out, showcasing not just academic brilliance but teamwork, leadership, and creativity.
When it came to the judge’s verdict, some of our students were in the winning team, earning an all-expenses-paid trip to PwC Channel Islands for a week in a real-deal financial services office!
MSc Accounting and Finance student Adelola Oyeleye shared: "I learnt the power of association, teamwork, and most importantly applying what we have learnt in class in this very important Business Game. It was an awesome experience, and I am proud to have made it to the final. Thank you so much for investing this much in us".Â
Our students' success is not just a win; it's a mark of dedication, resilience, and the spirit of future leaders.Â
