A Message from President Morishita: Inside East Bay, January 2017

- January 9, 2017
As we begin the Winter Quarter, I would like to welcome everyone back to campus. I hope you had a restful and rejuvenating break and are excited about the upcoming year. 2017 marks the 60th anniversary of ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ and we have much to celebrate. I am personally thankful for all of you who come to work, whether in Concord, Oakland or Hayward, whether online, in the classroom, playing field or court, ready to advance our students towards achieving their academic, professional and personal goals.
The New Year provides each of us the opportunity to look back at the previous year and work for something better going forward. I am an optimist, and look at each new challenge as an opportunity to learn, improve both myself and the community around me. I encourage you to seek opportunities to step out of your comfort zone and strive to advance yourself and your surroundings. A collective effort to do so is a powerful movement.
If you have time, plan to attend one of the many activities during the , beginning Tuesday January 17. Starting with the Martin Luther King Jr. Kick-Off breakfast, there are a number of important events and lectures certain to engage and inspire. Being an inclusive campus is a strategic commitment that we must never take for granted.
Before the break, I had a chance to watch our women’s and men’s basketball teams face Cal State Los Angeles in two exciting back to back games. Make a resolution to by coming out to cheer our men’s and women’s teams as they demonstrate Pioneer spirit at its best.
Go Pioneers!
Leroy M. Morishita
