ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Prepares for 2015 Commencement Ceremonies

ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥, East Bay will celebrate another diverse and inspiring group of graduates in a series of commencement ceremonies on the Hayward and Concord campuses June 12 and 13. The Class of 2015 graduate students will be honored at University Stadium in Hayward at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 12. The undergraduate ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 in the stadium. CSUEB’s Concord campus will have its own graduation on Saturday, June 13 at 9 a.m.

ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ has a diverse community with a mix of traditional and older students. Here’s a look at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥’s Class of 2015 by the numbers:

  • 4,289 undergraduate students are eligible to receive their degree

  • 1,430 graduate students are eligible to receive their degree

  • 59 percent of those receiving their bachelor’s degree are first-generation college students

  • 45 percent of those receiving their master’s degree are first-generation college students

  • The average age of those receiving their bachelor’s degree is 27

  • The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences has the largest graduating class of the university’s four colleges with 1,569 undergraduates eligible to earn their degree and 548 eligible graduate students eligible to earn their degree

  • The most popular undergraduate degree is business administration with 892 graduates

  • The oldest undergraduate student earning a degree is 68 while the youngest is 20

  • The oldest graduate student earning a degree is 74, and the youngest is 22

  • 63 percent of undergraduates and 65 percent of graduate students are female

  • Undergraduates are earning degrees in 43 majors, and graduate students represent 32 majors

  • 4.5 percent of the undergraduates are international students from 25 different countries

  • International graduate students also represent 25 countries. They comprise 17 percent of all graduate students earning degrees this year

  • 19 percent of the graduate students also earned their undergraduate degrees at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥

  • 16 percent of undergraduates came to CSUEB directly from high school while over 73 percent have transferred from 189 public and private institutions in California
