Six ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ student-athletes have been recognized with California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Winter All-Academic honors in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, the conference office announced Monday.

Senior Cody Kale (sociology) and sophomores Kyle Frakes (business administration) and Paramvir Singh (business administration) represented the Pioneer men’s basketball team on the All-Academic list. CSUEB’s three honorees were tied for the most of any CCAA men’s basketball squad.

Senior Micah Walker (human development) and juniors Shannon Bland (biochemistry) and Kelsey Asplund (health sciences) were honored from the CSUEB women's basketball team, which finished its historic 2014-15 season by making the championship game of the CCAA tournament.

In order to qualify for CCAA All-Academic recognition, student-athletes must compete in a conference-sponsored sport with sophomore standing or higher and maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average.

The 2014-15 year is the first in which the conference has recognized individuals for their academic achievements directly following their season of competition. In the fall, 24 Pioneers in the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball earned CCAA All-Academic honors.
