ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥, East Bay President Leroy M. Morishita will host an Etiquette Dinner for graduating seniors on April 16, at 5 p.m. in the University Union Multipurpose Room. The fee to register for the event is $20 and is refundable. Approximately 120 graduating seniors are scheduled to attend, and the main presenter will be Assistant Professor Thomas Padron, a faculty member in the Department of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism. The topic of Padron’s presentation is “Acumen for Professionals.”

Presented by CSUEB’s Academic Advisement and Career Education Center and sponsored by Young’s Market Company, the five-course dinner is an opportunity for graduating seniors to learn about topics such as proper dinner etiquette, what utensils to use, how to eat certain foods, starting conversations at cocktail receptions, and doing a 30-second “elevator pitch” to potential employers. Each table will also have a mentor who will perform individual assessments and provide additional coaching.

“President Morishita wanted to do something to prepare seniors for the real world by giving them tools and techniques to deal with job interviews and other scenarios where they might be dealing with a potential employer,” said Richard Watters, director of University Events. “This dinner is a practical and fun way of doing that, and we hope to make it an annual event.”
