- February 25, 2015
Anyone who aspires to being a teacher will want to attend the “Day of the Teacher: Success — Nothing Less” on Saturday, March 7, at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥’s Concord Campus. The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Early bird admission is $15 per person until Feb. 28, and $20 thereafter. The cost of registration includes lunch, access to all conference workshops, take-home materials, mock interviews, networking opportunities, and raffle prizes.
The event features a series of workshops exploring teaching opportunities and topics that include technology, common core, and substituting and preparing for community college instruction. Additional workshops will explore funding your teaching education, CBEST/CSET test-taking strategies, mock interviewing for teaching, and classroom management for elementary and middle school teachers. Antioch Unified School District will also be sending a representative, who will be actively searching to fill full-time and substitute teacher positions.
“This year we focused on bringing conference workshops that accurately reflect a modern educator’s experience in the classroom. Using technology and formative assessment, understanding common core, and shaking up STEAM with Next Generation Science Standards are just a few offerings for current and future teachers,” says Annie Nogales Chandler, conference coordinator for the event.
Presenters and session leaders include ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ staff and faculty members, and other experienced education professionals. The event features a keynote address by Elizabeth Lanfranki and Bob Wheeler, 2014 Contra Costa County Teachers of the Year.
Day of the Teacher is open to anyone considering teaching as a career, as well as new and seasoned K-12 education professionals. Space is limited. Registration and additional information are available online at .
