Virtual Food Drive Underway Through End of Spring Quarter; On-Campus Food Drive to Run Feb. 23-27

The ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Office of University Diversity and the Center for Community Engagement are sponsoring two food drives – one virtual, one on campus – for the Alameda County Community Food Bank as part of the university’s Week of Inclusive Excellence, Feb. 23-27.

“The drives are our way of demonstrating CSUEB’s commitment to inclusion and community,” said Mary D’Alleva, director, Center for Community Engagement.

The Food Bank serves one in five Alameda County residents. Because of its purchasing power, it is able to buy bulk food at greatly discounted prices. For every $1 the Food Bank receives in donations, it distributes $6 worth of food.

The virtual food drive, which began Feb. 9, continues through the spring quarter and gives individuals the convenience of donating anywhere, anytime, from any computer. To shop, go to , and look for the CSUEB group name in the drop- down menu.

Donations of food items will also be accepted on campus during the Week of Inclusive Excellence. Items can be dropped off at donation barrels throughout the Hayward campus. Locations will include the Old and New University Unions, Library, Valley Business & Technology Center, Student Services & Administration, Recreation & Wellness Center, Kinesiology & Physical Education, and Pioneer Bookstore.
