CSUEB College of Business and Economics students earn in excess of $55,000 in scholarships

Scholarships totaling more than $55,000 were awarded to 30 students at the 38th Annual Awards and Scholarship Ceremony held recently by the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥’s College of Business and Economics (CBE).  The Scholarships represented gifts from businesses and professional organizations, as well as donations from individuals. 

Among the more than 200 attendees at the event were representatives from Merritt Community Capital; the California Society of CPAs – East Bay Chapter; the Institute of Management – Amador Valley and East Bay chapters; and Farmers Insurance.

There was an increase in the number of scholarships awarded at the May 16 ceremony as compared to previous years, with the creation of the Amy and Winston Chen Scholarship, the Mark Hennings Scholarship and the J.C. Dhablania Excellence in Business Scholarship.

“It’s gratifying to see the generosity of our alumni, faculty, friends and the business community making educational opportunities available to so many students,” said Jagdish Agrawal, dean of CSUEB’s College of Business and Economics.  “As an institution that serves many first-generation college students, making college accessible is always a goal, and our donors make a big difference for some of our best and brightest students.” 

About the College of Business and Economics
 Cal State Easts Bay’s College of Business and Economics provides educational opportunities to more than 2,200 undergraduate and graduate students interested in careers in business annually. The college offers two undergraduate and three masters programs.  Undergraduate programs are available in Hayward, Concord and online.  Graduate programs are available in Hayward, Oakland and San Ramon.  The college employs 57 tenured/tenure track faculty and 36 part-time faculty members.  The College of Business and Economics is an AACSB-accredited school, a distinction earned through high quality programs. Only five percent of business schools worldwide have earned this accreditation.
