Journey to Success hosted by CSU East Bay and San Francisco State University, 5/19/12

Approximately 350 participants attended the Journey to Success College Summit organized by CSU East Bay and San Francisco State University on May 19, 2012.

The event held at CSU East Bay drew parents and students from San Francisco, Hayward, San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Castro Valley, Livermore, Martinez, Pleasanton, Fairfield, Fremont, San Jose, Palo Alto, Oakland, Simi Valley, Antioch, Pittsburg, Union City, Newark, Los Gatos, Sunny Valley, Burlingame, and San Pablo.

The program featured 17 workshops and 45 speakers providing information about college financial aid, scholarships for AAPI students, college preparation, college application, and family and parent engagement in a student's education.

The Journey to Success education summit was cosponsored by the CSUEB AANAPISI grant, Alameda County Office of Education, Chabot College and the Hayward Chamber of Commerce. Southwest Airlines donated a round-trip ticket that was given as a prize to a high school students participating in the event.

Journey to Success is a program of the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Initiative, designed to improve college access and graduation achievement for Asian American and Pacific Islander students from underserved communities.
