Hayward Fault Talk And Tour April 7
- April 1, 2012
"It's Our Fault", a free history around town presentation sponsored by the Hayward Area Historical Society and the Hayward Library will be held April 7 at 1 p.m.
Mitchell Craig, Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ East Bay (CSUEB), will answer questions about earthquakes by looking at the historic and geologic record.
After an introductory presentation at the Hayward Public Library, he will take participants on a walking tour around downtown Hayward. While pointing out the results of ongoing fault creep and discussing how to strengthen buildings, he will also share how communities can prepare for their response to the aftermath of an earthquake.
The library is located at 835 C. Street, Hayward. For more information call 510-581-0223.
The program is a partnership between HAHS and the Hayward Public Library for "California Reads." This year's books is called "A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities That Arise in Disaster," by Rebecca Solnit.
