"Sleeper Mod" by Art Professor Grace Munakata is among works featured in the upcoming exhibition.

裸聊直播 art faculty and staff members will show their current work in an annual exhibition opening March 1 in the University Art Gallery on the west side of the Art and Education Building, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward. The kick-off event is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.

This year’s show will include paintings, sculpture, digital art, photography, conceptual mixed media work, and video by James Allison, Kristin Becker, Jenn Brazelton, Malka Helfman, Michael Henninger, Bryan Higgins, Phil Hofstetter, Scott Hopkins, Kirk LeClaire, Mark Levy, Sylvia Min, Grace Munakata, John Poole, Jill Ringler, Philip Ringler, James Saxon, Dickson Schneider, Krys Simon, Sharon Wickham, and Suzy Wear.

“The variety of media speaks to the diversity of our program and illustrates the dedication and personal exploration it takes to work as a professional artist,” said Jill Ringler, gallery manager.

Ringler noted several entries. Brazelton's ceramic works in “The Neighborhood Series” visually discuss the interconnectedness of community through intricate organic forms that reference Ernst Haeckel's drawings and American suburbs. Munakata's colorful paintings, Ringler said, evoke the feminine and nostalgia of her Japanese-American upbringing, while Helfman's mixed media works refer to the beauty of her Jewish heritage. A collaborative photography series by Saxon and Philip Ringler remarks on the passing of time through the now deserted Warren Hall Student Services Lobby on the Hayward campus, while Hofstetter's tall, free-standing sculpture looks back to ancient Rome.
