Bryant and Offord Named to COBRA Magazine All-Region Team

HAYWARD, Calif. - ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ volleyball players Kitona Offord and Brianna Bryant were named to the COBRA Magazine All-West Region Team on Dec. 2. The pair joined players from across all three NCAA divisions, the NAIA and community colleges in being honored by the magazine, which celebrates the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging black girls across the country to pursue the sport. Offord was named to the All-West Region First Team, while Bryant collected Honorable Mention honors.
Offord, a sophomore middle blocker, was 10th in the CCAA with a .289 hitting percentage. She was second on the Pioneers with a .281 hitting percentage and topped East Bay with 0.75 blocks per set.
In four matches during the month of November, the Houston, Texas native recorded 30 kills and hit for a .420 percentage. She converted 15 of 17 attack attempts good for a school- and conference-record .882 hitting percentage in a Pioneer victory over Cal Poly Pomona.
Also a sophomore middle blocker, Bryant led the Pioneers this season with a .304 hitting percentage. The Rancho Cucamonga prodcut was second with 0.68 blocks per set and put down 201 kills. Bryant ranked sixth in the CCAA in hitting percentage and had her best performance of the year in a five-set victory over Chico State on Oct. 29, when she posted 16 kills and hit at a .444 clip while adding three solo blocks.
ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ finished tied for second in the CCAA with a 15-7 record and completed the 2010 campaign at 20-7 overall.
