ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ takes third at Dennis Rose Invitational

WAIKALOA, Hawai'i - The Pioneer women’s golf team closed out the 2010 fall season on Nov. 2, finishing third at the Dennis Rose Invitational, hosted by Hawai'i Hilo. The three-round tournament was played at the Waikaloa Beach Course and featured a four-team field.

ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ completed the 54-hole invitational with a 122-over-par 962, 48 strokes behind team winner Grand Canyon and 36 strokes back of second-place Hawai'i Hilo. The Pioneers defeated fourth-place Academy of Art by five strokes.

Deanna Tyndall, who finished in ninth place, led the Pioneers. Tyndall completed the three rounds with a 25-over 235. She shot a team-low of 73 in the final round, improving her second-round 83 by 10 strokes.

Andrea Castellanos finished 11th with a three-round score of 238.  After shooting a four-over 74 in the first round, Alicia Haness placed 13th with a 33-over 243.

Christina Walker and Katie Devine finished 17th and 18th, respectively, to round out the Pioneer field.

ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ returns to action to open the 2011 spring campaign on Feb. 27, 2011 at San Marcos Country Club for the Cal State San Marcos Invitational.
