Online directory gathers CSUEB social media tools in one spot
- April 2, 2010
Want to follow your favorite ֱ athletics teams on Facebook or receive “tweets” from Twitter about university cultural events? Find a complete listing of social media options online in the university’s new social media directory.
“Social networking sites like Facebook have quickly transitioned the Web from one-way communication to a networked society,” said Kimberly Legocki, CSUEB director of social media relations. “This evolution has changed the way we communicate at ֱ where social networking tools are being used to connect the university’s community of current and prospective students, faculty and staff, alumni and other constituents.”
Launched in March, the directory features links to every official university account on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Delicious and Linked In and makes it easy to sign up for RSS feeds.
“New social media accounts from various groups and departments allow people to make meaningful connections with each other, while enhancing ֱ’s visibility as a regional university of choice,” Legocki said. “Whether you're looking for CLASS and ASI events, seeking career advice, or just wanting to stay on top of the latest campus news, you'll likely find what you need through one of these channels.”
Noting that social media is “all about collaboration,” Legocki encourages members of the university community to participate.
“Check out these links, ask questions, provide feedback and share your thoughts,” she said. “Most accounts are updated weekly –– some daily –– to provide the most recent content from the campus community.”
