Pioneers Fall to Dominguez Hills, 9-1

CARSON, Calif. - The Pioneer baseball team lost to host Cal State Dominguez Hills 9-1 in the opener of a four-game series on March 12.

ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ scored its lone run in the eighth inning on a solo home run off the bat of Devin Grigg.

The Toros jumped out to a 5-0 lead after five innings and added three more insurance runs in the eighth.

The Pioneers had nine hits and stranded 10 runners. Nick McManus and Charlie Sharrer each had two hits. McManus had a double.

Kyle Pond had three hits including a pair of doubles and scored three runs for the Toros. Max Anderson hit an inside-the-park homer in the eighth frame. Toro pitcher Kody Kurowski improved to 4-0 for the season blanking the Pioneers on five hits and eight strikeouts in seven innings.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is 9-4 in the CCAA and 14-7 overall while ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ stands at 2-11 and 5-14-1 for the season.
