LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Pioneers placed eighth in the Finis Collegiate Invitational on December 11-14. Jenni Perez finished 13th with a time of 19:39.27 in the 1650 free. The Pioneers had a pair of 14th place finishes from Bethany Hoopman in the 200 yard backstroke (2:17.48) and Ashley McBride in the 200 yard butterfly (2:31.73). Hoopman finished 19th in the 100 backstroke (1:02.27).

The Pioneers also received solid individual performances from Christine Gee-16th 200 yard backstroke (2:28.89), Vanessa Smith-18th 200 yard backstroke (2:37.11), and Jill Lothian-28th 50 yard free (25.47). The Pioneers performed well in the relays. The foursome of McBride, Perez, Brenda O'Connor, and Sami Hernandez finished eighth in the 800 yard freestyle with a time of 8:25.68. The Pioneers received a ninth place effort in the 200 yard medley relay from the foursome of O'Connor, Melissa Grottkau, McBride, and Lothian. The foursome of Hoopman, Grottkau, McBride, and Olina Wibroe-Benson placed 10th in the 400 medley relay.
