HAYWARD — More than 4,000 attendees are expected at Saturday's Science Festival to be held at ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥.
The free program is open to the public. It brings together campus students, faculty and area scientists to promote the world of science and technology.
"We want to introduce science to the community, and let them experience science firsthand," said Charlene Lebastchi, festival coordinator.
Lebastchi said 50 activities are scheduled, including a chemistry magic show and physics show.
A nursing program will also be featured, with students providing free blood-pressure checks and diabetes screening.
Representatives from the Sulphur Creek Nature Center, Chabot Space and Science Center, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and the California Academy of Sciences will be on hand to present exhibits.
While the festival celebrates science and technology, officials also said youths are a main focus.
"We want kids to have an opportunity to experience science on their own," Lebastchi said. "Maybe one of them will say 'Hey, I can do that too when I get big.'”
