ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ is one of the top universities in the country that serves students earning degrees online, according to new information from the  2017 ranking.

This is the second such recognition the university has received this year for its online degree programs. Last week, College Choice, an online college ranking website, listed CSUEB’s online business and economics degree program as No. 2 in the state of California.

According to data released Tuesday, ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ was in the top 15 percent of programs surveyed by U.S News and World Report. Factors contributing to the final score included how well the university prepares its faculty to teach remotely, and the amount of financial, vocational and technical support available for students.

ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ also ranked among the top 200 institutions on U.S. News’ list for best online graduate education programs. These are programs at universities nationwide that offer online master’s in education degrees, and rankings were based on factors such as accreditation, admissions selectivity, and academic and career support services offered to students. In 2016, CSUEB’s online bachelor’s program and graduate education program were both ranked similarly, coming in at No. 7 in the state.

According to U.S. News, those students who are enrolled in the ranked programs have earned at least some college credit and are working professionals looking to advance in or change their careers. So instead of focusing on factors like standardized test scores, U.S. News chose to rank the included schools based on factors like student engagement, student services and faculty credentials.

“Programs that incorporate diverse online learning technologies allow greater flexibility for students to take classes from a distance,” the report noted. “Outside of classes, strong support structures provide learning assistance, career guidance and financial aid resources commensurate with quality campus-based programs.”
